This 1900 Wellington villa went under extensive renovation for the owner. Lacking low street appeal some of its original features were reinstated such as finials on the verandah to return it to its traditional look.
Traditional features were kept and enhanced and some modern features such as new polished concrete flooring in the living areas were added. These team nicely with the more traditional parts. A walk-in wardrobe and ensuite were incorporated into the new layout. The wardrobe can now fit all 200 pairs of the clients shoes comfortably. The white aesthetic was the clients idea, she wanted to keep it elegant and neutral with more of an emphasis on the furniture. But the extra storage, of course, was a game changer. As with a lot of older homes lack of storage is common. Having storage built in has helped maintain the clean look our client wished for. |
The brief was to have the house feel elegant, comfortable, feminine and modern but fit in with the character of the home. |
